Path of the Ancestral Mothers of Scotland

Some stories are handed down from generation to generation, living stories, shared and retold. Yet what of the stories that perhaps died out with a certain group of people, or even a particular person?

What if we could somehow head out foraging for stories? This is the path I took to find the Ancestral Mothers. Stories that the land still held, long after they stopped being shared, stopped being told and stopped being handed down.

Reclaiming these stories was a long process. They might start off with a feeling in a certain place on the land. Yet engaging with that feeling and build a relationship with place is still possible when we are away from the location. Much like a human friend - we have ways of keeping in touch. And there are ways to keep in touch with the land, and the spirits of that land, for we can stay connected through prayer, meditation or journeying through the worlds.

The Ancestral Mothers of Scotland isn’t some ancient long-lost linage, they are figures in the land I have gotten to know. If you were to step out onto the same land, you might well meet other figures.

Walking the Path of the Ancestral Mothers of Scotland is journeying the wheel of the year and honoring those stories which have continued to our time as well as retelling stories that got lost.
