 Ferry Cancellation Due to Technical or Mechanical Issues

In the unfortunate circumstance that the ferry is cancelled due to a mechanical fault, then Calmac will refund you £100 per person, per night for a maximum of 3 nights.

If this happens, you should get on CalMac's rebooking list for the following day as soon as possible. If the main ferry is out of service, the smaller chartered boats may only be able to carry up to ten passengers. Another challenge can be finding an available skipper for the boat.

If CalMac is able to charter a boat from Arisaig, they will arrange transport to the departure point, which is only a short distance from Mallaig.

Sometimes they can also assist you with booking if you are unable to find avalible accomidation.

If you are on CalMac's rebooking list for the following day, I would recommend arriving at the CalMac office as early as possible, regardless of your position on the list. This can improve your chances of securing a place, as many people on the list may cancel or fail to turn up.
