Space for Prayer

Imbolc can be a deep and dark time. In northern latitudes, we often have the strongest winter weather still to face. It can be a time when people feel the weight of the world on their shoulders - from debt and job worries to wider worries of war and the breakdown of climate systems.

Creating a paper Brighid’s cross is a way to consider those worries - by drawing and writing and representing them on paper.

Honoring Grief

In honoring Brighid as a Goddess of the thresholds of life and death, I’ll play an old chant that was sung at the edge of the ocean, intended to guide souls home to the otherworld. The song mimics the call of the Oystercatcher, who has been called the servant of Brighid.

Brighid in the Landscape

We’ll visit some sites in the landscape such as a healing well dedicated to brighid and a Beehive cell.

Rituals of Creating a Keening Doll - Preparing the doll with symbols, intention and natural objects

Embark on a transformative journey starting our time together by seeking a blessing at the Well of the Holy Women. A keening ciecEngage in the Keening Circle, a profound ritual where you'll express the depths of grief through a circular weaving, culminating in a week-long exploration of sorrow through music and poignant rituals at unique island sites.

Liminal Spaces

On an island on the wild edges of Scotland we will step into liminal spaces for inspiration. From caves and loch’s plus a keening circle and trance dance we will engage our spiritual senses as we connect with the ancestors and the Ancestral Mothers of these islands. Scotland offers long lingering twilights at this time of year, hours of enchanted light after the sun has set that feel between the worlds. This quality of light paints the land so you can clearly see the face in the cliff and the outline of the woman in the land.

This is a free gathering, sign up below where you’ll be prompted to create a login. Once in the online space for the gathering you’ll find instructions on making a paper Brighid’s cross and the zoom link.
