Diné Survival School
Andy Dann, a Diné (Navajo) elder is building a survival school that is being built on Diné lands. This school will teach Diné youth hogan building, weaving, language, storytelling, silversmithing, agriculture and other cultural skills.
The survival school is necessary because, for generations, the US government forcibly removed Indigenous children from their homes and families. They were required to attend boarding schools where they were taught to assimilate into Western culture. This history has left deep wounds. This is the time for repair, healing, and cultural revitalization!
