Eye of the Cailleach. Celtic Soul Prayer Beads with Labradorite. Pagan prayer beads. (6)
This set of Celtic Soul Beads honours the great Gaelic crone, the Cailleach.
At Samhain her ritual is to wash her plaid in the whirlpool of Corryvrecken, which brings the land into winter.
The eye pendant speaks to the circular eye of the whirlpool. Donald Alexander Mackenzie wrote about the Cailleach having one great eye in the middle of her forehead
“The aged Beira was fearsome to look upon. She had only one eye, but the sight of it was keen and sharp as ice and as swift as the mackerel of the ocean. Her complexion was a dull, dark blue’
In Scotland she is the great deity of winter, striking life down dead - for it life doesn’t die, then how can it be reborn again in the spring.
