This weaving holds three white stones. The story is that the stones were a trio of three local wise women, all sisters.

They were known to bring in the rain clouds, in the summers where the earth dried up and the crops might fail. People came to them when they had lost things, or if they had broken bones or wounds.

But when the witch-finders came to these lands, and gossip whipped up in the village like flames on a hay bale, all fingers pointed to the three sisters.

No one knows what happened to them as they just vanished, some say they themselves turned into the three standing stones. If you walk up to the hill and spend the night by the stones, the sisters will grant you an answer to a question that lies heavy on your heart.

Materials

• The main background – black woven wool and woven wool roving

• Standing stone & moon are needle felted - embellished with liceh inspired French embroidery knots

• Additional embellishments – brown Harris Tweed, glass beads, quartz crystals, and embroidery thread
