As summer draws to a close, I’m reflecting on all it has carried, grateful for being able to hold three Grief Pilgrimages on a wonderful Hebridean Island. Here in the west of Scotland, the season is now rapidly turning. Our summer birds have flown south, while our winter visitors have begun to arrive.
Unfortunately, there is so much to grieve in the world: the lives lost in wars and wildfires, the destruction of homes and habitats, the deepening climate crisis, and the is the many losses we carry privately.
As we cross this threshold into the dark half of the year, I find myself returning to writing and listening to stories, of gathering inspiration for the dark of the year.
In these times when the world is unravelling, Older women are answering the call to step forward and resume the roles of elders, wise beings, grandmothers, crones.
They are stepping forward for the Earth, for those who have been systematically silenced, for all the four-legged, the insects, trees, wind, for our mighty oceans and for all our futures.
That's why I'm excited so to invite you to join us in this no-cost online event for all older women, called Crones, Hags and Elder Wise Women of Power.
It starts on September 23rd and runs for 7 days.

My own sharing is called Keening: an Ancient Practice for Modern Mourning and I'm excited to share this with you. it’s inspired by the keening woman, who was an older and respected member of her community.
When we gather like this, we weave something together that is more than any one of us could make alone. In that shared space, a current moves through us and then out beyond us, touching lives we may never meet.
