From paintings to weavings and dolls come check out my new UK Etsy Shop - Jude Lally Art

Sheena Macleod Dolls

You’ll find vintage Sheena Macleod dolls in my shop - from award winning Scottish doll maker from the 1970’s. I love to rescue these wonderful dolls, dust them down and then add them to my shop.

Her dolls are based around 12 characters, where she researched the clothes and the tools used - from fishwives to Hebridean and Shetland women - with spinning wheels, baskets of peat and knitting needles.

Weaving Death

Occasionally I like to add some black weaving to which I sew on bones I’ve found on the shore, while walking the dogs by the banks of the River Clyde.

Paintings

Working in acrylic, oil pastel and a pinch of soil from my favorite hill (near Loch Lomond) abstract paintings explore the meeting of worlds, the place where this world meets the other.

From ancestors, to figures from myth and of course the Ancestral Mothers, these abstract paintings speak to conversations and dances between the worlds.
